The Autumn school holiday is shortly upon us. We're looking forward to loads of fun at our 12 October activity camps.
If you don't have a local camp, we've got some great things you can do with your child to keep them entertained.
Nature trail
Kids love a challenge and a nature trail is a great way to get them outdoors. A bit of competition also encourages them to notice what's around them and connect to the changing seasons.
Make a list of autumnal thing's you're likely to see in your local area and get them to check these off as you go. You can even ask them to tally the number of examples along the way to total up at the end.
Younger ones will love our Nature Trail challenge. Download and print it here.
Make and bake
Get creative in the kitchen. Kids love to bake and this teaches them key life skills they'll value for life! It can get messy, but that's all part of the fun. Older children should also be able to help clear up too!
Prise them off their screens for some family fun. Dust off the board games for some healthy competition.
Whether you go old skool with scrabble or Monopoly (always leads to arguments in my household, but you may be different!) or go for a more modern option, there's plenty to choose from to suit every interest.
Get active
Join your kids for some active fun. If it's drizzly outside, try a bit of Joe Wicks in the warm.
If it's a crisp day, why not warm up outside with some fun garden races. Think sports day events like egg and spoon, three legged race or a relay!
Garden treasure hunt
Get them outdoors (and get some peace and quiet for you) with a garden treasure hunt. Hide bits and pieces in the garden and time how long it takes them to cross all the items off the list. Fancy a cuppa?
Top tip: Don't hide anything you don't want to loose. Select smaller items that will be more difficult to find if you have older children.
On your bike
It might be a chillier now, but there's still time to make the most of the weather before winter comes! Oil the chains, get your helmets on and head out for an adventure.
If it's looking like a nice day, pack a pic nic and make a day of it.
Cosy up
It's all about balance. After all that outdoor fun, snuggle up and chill out. Pop on a family film and enjoy some indulgent escapism.
Make it a bit of an event by making a den, or turning your sitting room into a cinema. Get the popcorn on and relax!
Learn something new together
Whether it's juggling, a magic trick or even knitting. We can all do with learning something new and the school half term is a great time to master this together.
OK, they'll probably be much better than you, but that'll make them enjoy it even more!
Autumn crafts
Collect some leaves, twigs and conkers and bring them home for arts and crafts. You could wipe the leaves and paint them in different colours then print these on paper to make a fun collage, or leaf animal pictures. Here are some great Autumn arts and crafts ideas for kids.
Let their imaginations run wild!
Create a time capsule
This'll be lovely to rediscover in years to come. Get them to write down what they want to be when they grow up, who their best friend is, what's their favourite subject is school and what they like do to most outside of school.
They could even draw a picture of what they think the world will be like in 20 years. Bury it in the garden, or hide it away in the loft. This will be a lovely treasure to rediscover in years to come.
