How kids will develop motor skills, components of fitness and bone strength at Barracudas!
At Barracudas holiday clubs, we inspire your children to get active and develop their motor skills, components of fitness and bone strength.
We achieve this by providing opportunities for them to become physically confident in a way which boosts their health and fitness. We incorporate a mixture of aerobic and anaerobic activities within our timetables, meaning we're also compliant with the national PE curriculum.
National PE curriculum
The national PE curriculum is designed to develop children’s physical capability and knowledge of movement and safety, as well as integrating their understanding of and ability to perform a wide range of activities associated with the development of an active and healthy lifestyle.
GOV UK suggests children aged 4, 5, 6 and 7 years should develop fundamental movement skills and explore opportunities to extend their components of fitness. Whereas, children aged 8 to 14 years, are required to develop a broader range of skills and techniques, as well as embed advanced physical development through team and individual games.
Barracudas timetable
The activities we offer at Barracudas, and incorporate within our daily timetables, help promote your child’s development, using aerobic and anaerobic activities. We achieve this by offering a mixture of invasion games, striking activities, swimming, yoga, drama and many more.
Having these activities in our timetables help increase your child’s opportunities to develop their components of fitness. They’ll improve their agility, balance, and coordination, as well as develop their muscular fitness and enhance their bone strength at camp.
With 6 fun activity sessions each day, and a choice for every one, they’ll enjoy maximum fun and have plenty of chances to improve their health at Barracudas.
Aerobic Exercise
Aerobic exercise, is a form of activity, which uses large muscle groups in a rhythmic nature, to uptake and transport oxygen throughout the body. This is achieved at 70-80% of your child’s maximum heart rate (220 – age = maximum heart rate).
By incorporating invasion activities (team games with attackers and defenders) and swimming within our timetables, we’re helping improve the function of your child’s skeletal muscles and cardiovascular system, increasing their endurance performance.

Anaerobic Exercise
Anaerobic exercise involves quick-paced, high intensity exercises over a short duration, which do not require your children’s muscles to use oxygen; this is because anaerobic activities are fuelled by the breakdown of glucose. Glucose is stored in your child’s muscles from consuming foods rich in carbohydrates, such as bread and pasta, as a form of energy.
Sessions such as yoga and striking activities within our timetables, increase the size and power of children’s fast twitch fibres. This improves the strength of their bones, boosting muscle development.
